The Crown Jewels of BMW Performance.
All in One Place.
BMW built the E9x chassis to perform. Then they softened it for the showroom floor; quieter intakes, compliant suspension, soft rubber bushes, braking designed for the daily commute, cooling that copes with traffic but not spirited driving, and an open differential that gives up the moment one rear wheel loses grip.
We reverse that.
Matt Lewis Racing brings together the performance upgrades that unlock the full potential of your BMW.
Ramair - high-flow induction systems that replace the restrictive factory airbox with improved airflow, sharper throttle response and the unmistakable soundtrack every BMW deserves.

BMW E9x Additional Upgrades
Stop Strangling Your Engine
BMW built the N52, N54, and N55 to make power. Then they wrapped the intake in a plastic box designed for quiet. Ramair fixes that.
A panel filter is the gateway drug. Swap out the paper clog, drop in a reusable high-flow element, and feel the throttle wake up. Five minutes. Zero drama. Instant grin.
Want the full hit?
A Ramair induction kit replaces the entire intake tract with an aluminium or reinforced silicone hardpipe, and a genuine cold-air feed that actually lives outside the engine bay heat. Your turbo gets the airflow it was begging for, and your ears get the soundtrack BMW deleted.
- Sharper throttle response.
- Lower intake temps.
- That raw, angry induction roar every time you bury the pedal.
Fits E9x models like it was factory, because Ramair actually designs these products specifically for this chassis; it's not some universal "maybe" kit.
- No remap needed
- No CELs
Just cold air and a heavier right foot.

Delete the Flex
Factory rubber bushes are soft for a reason: your auntie's daily commute. They're not built for B-roads, boost, or anything resembling fun.
Powerflex polyurethane bushes replace that mush with precision. Every input you give the wheel actually reaches the road. Turn-in sharpens. Understeer backs off. The whole car feels like somebody finally tightened every nut underneath you.
Front Wishbones, Rear Subframe, Anti-Roll Bars, Diff Bushes- wherever your beloved beamer has rubber, Powerflex has the upgrade. Purple for the road, the sweet spot of sharper handling without wrecking daily comfort. Black for the track, when you want every ounce of feedback and don't care about NVH.
- Sharper steering response.
- More predictable at the limit.
- Bushes that outlast the car.
Stop driving around the flex. Remove it.
Powerflex E9x Upgrades
Stop Wasting Torque
BMW built the E9x to deliver serious torque to the rear axle. Then they fitted an open differential that treats grip like a suggestion. The moment one wheel loses traction on a tight corner exit, a damp roundabout or a hard launch, the diff sends almost all of your power to the spinning wheel while the tyre with the grip does nothing. The performance you paid for disappears in a cloud of wheelspin and flashing DSC lights.
The factory differential is the weakest link in an otherwise brilliant chassis. It's why a 335i can light up the inside rear tyre in third gear while the loaded outside wheel, the one capable of driving the car forward, is left with almost no torque.
That's where Blackline and Quaife come in.
Both brands replace the factory open differential with a precision-engineered helical limited-slip differential that automatically transfers torque to the wheel with the most grip. Instead of wasting power through wheelspin, torque is directed where it can actually propel the car forward, transforming traction, stability and driver confidence.
Whether you choose the exceptional value of Blackline or the legendary motorsport pedigree of Quaife, the result is the same: stronger corner exits, better traction in wet and dry conditions, and a BMW that finally puts its power to the road.
- Automatic torque biasing with no electronics or driver input required.
- No clutch plates to wear out, no servicing and no routine maintenance.
- Smooth, progressive operation that's perfectly civilised on the road yet incredibly effective when driving enthusiastically.
- Both rear tyres working together instead of one tyre spinning away your hard-earned horsepower.
- Greater confidence accelerating out of bends, through roundabouts and in poor weather.

Keep Your Cool
Heat is the enemy of power. Stock cooling is a compromise, fine for the daily grind, but it leaves headroom on the table when you're on it. Airtec builds the stuff that actually fixes it.
Airtec Uprated Intercooler
- Bigger bar-and-plate core with more surface area, better thermal transfer
- Cooler, denser charge air with less heat soak, more consistent power
- Direct bolt-on, no drama and no custom pipework
- Essential for remapped N54/N55s or anyone who uses the boost properly
Airtec Uprated Oil Cooler
- Brings oil temps back into the safe zone under sustained load
- Protects bearings, rings, and turbo when you're asking everything of them
- Not about peak power, it's mechanical insurance
- Direct-fit kit, proper peace of mind for motorway hauls and track sessions
Airtec Uprated Radiator
- Larger core volume + improved flow over stock
- Handles coolant temps when a tuned turbo is working hard
- Direct-fit swap, no bracket faff and no custom plumbing
- Complete the thermal package: intercooler + oil cooler + radiator = zero weak links

Why These Upgrades Matter
You can fit one upgrade and feel a difference. Fit all four, and the car changes character.
The E9x chassis starts capable. But factory compromises mute its soft bushes, let the suspension move in ways it shouldn't, heat soak pulls timing, the open diff sends power to the tyre with least grip, and the intake sounds like it was designed for a rental fleet.
Fix all four, and you don't just make the car faster. You make it coherent. Throttle, steering, temperatures, traction, everything starts working together.
Right now, two of those fixes are even better value:
- Powerflex Bush Combo Kits — multiple packs bundled in one kit, with Free UK Shipping
- Blackline LSD Installation Kits — including Motul Gear 300 diff oil and a full set of diff seals, also with Free UK shipping.
