The Performance Clutches Stage 1 Street HD Single Mass Flywheel Kit is designed for BMW E36 and E46 applications where increased torque capacity, durability, and sharper drivetrain response are required. It combines a lightweight single mass flywheel with a heavy-duty street clutch, making it a strong choice for tuned road cars and drivers who want a more responsive feel without moving to an aggressive competition clutch.
At the centre of the kit is a 7.2kg lightweight single mass flywheel, manufactured from 4140 forged steel with an integral ring gear. The forged construction provides excellent strength and heat resistance, while the reduced rotational mass lowers engine inertia. This allows the engine to rev more freely, improving throttle response, acceleration, and gear change speed compared with the heavier factory dual-mass setup.
The clutch assembly features a QT450 steel pressure plate, selected for its thermal stability and resistance to distortion during sustained high-temperature use. The increased clamping load provides additional torque capacity over the standard clutch, making the kit well suited to tuned engines and performance road applications.
A steel-backed organic friction disc provides progressive engagement and good heat resistance, retaining the controlled characteristics needed for everyday road driving while offering greater durability under spirited use.
