The precision-fitted cap maximises rotor arm centricity and timing accuracy, whilst the vacuum advance capsule is retained for responsive engine control. Installation is straightforward: connect your old coil positive to the red wire, earth the black wire, and wire the white lead to your electronic tacho (Mk1 Escort includes separate rev counter instructions).
The system requires a full 12V supply to the coil; if your car has a ballast resistor or resistance wire, remove it first, as it will drop voltage to 6–8V and compromise performance.
