The Performance Clutches Stage 4 Sport Single Mass Flywheel Kit is designed for BMW E46 M3 owners looking for maximum drivetrain response, reduced rotational mass, and competition-focused clutch performance. Developed for demanding applications such as drifting, circuit racing, and time attack, this setup prioritises rapid engine response and direct torque transfer over everyday refinement.
At the centre of the kit is a 7.2kg lightweight single mass flywheel, manufactured from 4140 forged steel with an integral ring gear. The reduced rotational mass significantly lowers engine inertia compared with the factory dual-mass flywheel, allowing the engine to rev more quickly and providing sharper throttle response and faster gear changes.
The clutch assembly features a QT450 steel pressure plate, providing high clamp load and excellent thermal stability during sustained high-temperature use. This is paired with a rigid ceramic 6-paddle friction disc, which removes the sprung hub and marcel cushioning found in more road-focused clutch designs. The result is a more immediate engagement, reduced clutch assembly inertia, and highly effective torque transfer under extreme conditions.
The rigid ceramic paddle design provides excellent resistance to heat and clutch slip, making it well suited to aggressive launches, clutch kicks, high-RPM driving, and heavily modified engines.
